Partner Scott Goldberg was recently invited to speak on the Independent Film Distribution Panel "Made a Fantastic Film, Now What?" at the 2011 Gasparilla International Film Festival on March 26, 2011 in Tampa, Florida. Mr. Goldberg spoke about the business behind the selling and marketing of a film, how and when a film gets financing, types of distribution deals, and the future of the distribution business.

HJG attorney James Hetz recently spoke on the topic of Reality Show Contracts at the University of Kansas Sports and Entertainment Law Symposium. The Symposium acknowledged the life and contribution of KU's Athletic Director, the late Dr. Bob Frederick. Presenters included, among others, the Assistant General Counsel for Nike, Stephanie Vardavas, the General Counsel for the PAC-10, Woodie Dixon and KU School of Law Professor Mike Kautsch.

Mr. Goldberg spoke about structuring production companies for raising investment funds for independant films, as well as discussed the do's and dont's of independent filmmaking and various agreements required for independent filmmakers during the development, production, post-production and distribution stages of filmaking.
